The founders and owners of Utopia Village are a group of seven, long time friends from Texas, Canada and the UK who have realized a dream through their love of adventure and travel. This Utila resort combines the beauty of the Caribbean with the comfort of a small boutique hotel. The pristine surroundings of Utopia Village are enveloped by both sea and jungle providing an ideal location for the unique ambience.
In 2001, Utopia's President Angelika Lukacsy, lived just one block from the World Trade Center and experienced the terror of 911 up close and personal. Following the tragedy, clean up crews and military check-points were set up around her apartment building leaving her unable to return to her residence. Angelika moved onto a sail boat and began to plan her escape to paradise. Angelika's goal, while sailing the islands, was to find a place that combined all the right ingredients for investing in a new business and lifestyle. Calling upon her close friends with varying expertise, the Utopia concept was born and has now become the first, casually elegant, holistic, eco resort and spa on Utila.
